The Mass Effect professional arena football team is taking shape. This past weekend, all perspective players reported for camp for a final chance to make the cut. “I think it went great,” Offensive Coordinator Darryl Berry said. “Everybody gave a hundred percent… gave it all.”
With the resounding response from New England players who tried-out, Berry explained not all who participated in the camp will make the final team. “There’s a couple [of] guys I’d like to take a closer look at,” the OC said. “We’ll set up a couple more re-invite dates before we make a decision.”
Coach Jorge Pessoa, who was added to the defensive coaching staff just weeks ago was impressed by what he saw during the three-day camp. “Each day they’ve been playing harder…competing,” Pessoa said. “In my experience, you usually get a lot of guys who come to camp, they expect to come in and get to play and not really compete. I don’t see that here!”
With the season looming in the near future, the Effect is on schedule to finalize the roster and begin team practices. The season opener is scheduled for March 28th in Middlebury, Vermont against the Brew (vermontbrewfootball.com). The Effect’s first home game will be on May 2, 2020, where they’ll face off against the Rochester Kings at Driscoll Arena in Fall River, MA.
