AUGUST 2, 2020

As our world continues to feel the effects of the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Massachusetts Effect football team would like to provide an update on both our 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Behind the scenes, our organization has been working hard to come up with potential alternative gameplans to allow our team to play this year. Massachusetts has had some of the strictest rules in the country throughout this entire pandemic, and we want to respect and abide by those rules to keep our community and players/staff safe and healthy. As much as were looking forward to kickoff in 2020, we decided as an organization to shift our focus to the 2021 season. We hold ourselves to very high standards and our goal is to play well organized professional football. We felt that this was not feasible this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the guidelines and safety protocols set forth.

Our original 2020 season plans included our team membership in the Elite Indoor Football league’s Northeast division. The EIF failed to meet our standards, regardless of the pandemic. We felt that the league was not a good fit for us and still do. We will be departing from the EIF effective immediately (as our contract ended Aug. 1st). As of our current situation, we will make a formal announcement about our 2021 plans at a later date. We wish nothing but success for the EIF and their continued progress.

As a non-profit multi-faceted entity, our organization’s core values have not changed and our focus from a professional and structured operation will always be on supporting our local community. We have been starting to develop our Mass Effect Sports Academy, a sports training program for our local youth (with the goal of a 2020 start date within reach). You will be hearing more information about our plans for the academy soon.

We hope everyone continues to be safe and healthy, and we look forward to sharing more about our future plans soon.
